We believe nourishment gives us life, movement expresses life and relationships are the meaning of life.
Our core guiding principle is that health and life are one and the same-and the better we help people connect the two-the greater success they will experience in both.
We believe the physical body tends toward health, but our behavior often does not. So the key is to help properly and wholly address and balance our natural tendencies through intelligent education,
timely motivation and support-and personal responsibility.
We believe we can help most people with most problems and help prevent or lessen many chronic diseases with a strong focus on the fundamentals of whole body health and wellness.
The body strives to be healthy
We believe life is a creative act in which our body possesses inherent wisdom. Our whole body health approach pivots on the the powerful recognition that if all influences are equal, the body innately strives toward health in the physical realm.
Health is just another word for life.
We believe health and life are one and the same - and the better we help people connect the two - the greater success they will experience in both. Though useful at times, we believe one of the most damaging influences on building strong and enduring health is the reductionist approach to how we view our bodies, our health and our lives. Though we may divide the body into systems, we must never forget that we (body, mind and spirit) are an intact operating system where nothing is done in isolation or without consequence. A fragmented, compartmentalized approach to health leads to a fragmented, compartmentalized life. The consequences have been ineffectiveness and a gradual dehumanizing effect. We've been reduced to the mathematical equivalent of a lab rat that constantly feeds on scientific studies and 3-step formulas on how to live life. Or at least lose 10 pounds. Sterile, disconnected and unfulfilling have become adjectives far too many people use to describe their lives. What's worse, health is not improving with this approach as most people are fundamentally misguided in how to best approach healthy living.
Knowledge must always be balanced with wisdom.
To make the best choices for healthy living, we believe that we should always filter our current state of knowing with a higher level of accepted wisdom that has stood the test of time and an ever-changing knowledge base. History has repeatedly shown us that we must often unlearn what we once thought of as fact. This holds especially true in the areas of health, nutrition and medicine. Unlike common approaches in diet, exercise and medical sciences that focus only on the latest innovation or scientific study - we believe the basic, most important and most influential requirements for human health do not change and should be the governing focus for building strong health. So rather than build programs based predominantly on the latest health fad or bit of information, onvo builds programs, classes and services primarily based on time-honored principles that strive to educate clients on the necessary balance between knowledge and wisdom.
We are MORE ALIKE than we are different.
We believe the same basic processes for building a foundation of whole body healthy living are more alike than different for each person. Rather than immediate attention and focus on individual differences - and often problems - onvo has successful programs to first teach, train and support improvement in the foundational areas of health that are important for everyone. For example, the body is created to move, so we know each person needs to move. But too little movement doesn't do enough to stimulate an adequate positive health response. And too much movement leads to wear and tear and physical breakdown. The common approaches to movement training have led to an epidemic of either ineffectiveness or physical breakdown for most people because of a lack of true understanding of whole body health.
The power of community can help fuel individual success.
We believe community can support yet should not encumber the opportunity for the success of the individual. So rather than having a mission of community, we are a community with a mission. The mission of onvo is whole body healthy living.
We don't achieve it, we must choose to live it!
We believe health is about something we are as much as it is about something we do. We believe every person needs moments to refresh, refocus and re-engage n the fundamentals that support us. Otherwise, like not having enough oxygen to breathe, we begin to live life chronically short of breath.
